Are issues like this perhaps why they went to spin on filters?  Less variables and parts to loose?  If they thread on and don't leak you are good vs the other way where there are extra parts to get lost or mixed up and maybe lots of different filters that are pretty similar but don't seal up right?

Interesting to hear that they say you should not leave them on.  I don't recall that in the brochure.  Was this a stock rebuild or a conversion?

Eric, that's true. Triple black brings the money for sure. That car is probably the best example I have ever seen. Would love to have an idea just how much the restoration cost. It has little small details I've never seen before on any other 1960. Amazing restoration and sell price!

Thank you Big Fins! I have no photos of the card or anything from CLC. That's the big dilemma. I think I was maybe 23xxx something maybe 16xxx I cannot remember for the life of me.

Steering wheel grips are in the correct position. The car was purchased by a CLC member who specializes in 59/60 Cadillac restorations on behalf of a client. He said it was one of the best he'd ever seen- clearly money-no-object.  Triple white would've brought significantly less. Nothing tops triple black (or black w/red leather) on the desirability scale. In forty years in the car business, I've seen it countless times- especially with Cadillacs.

See if you can locate your member card that was sent you when you joined the first time. The CLC custodians have recently changed. Who knows what records were not transferred or even kept prior to the change.

You're here now. That's what counts!

It's interesting seeing the minor differences between your 61 and mine.  Mine is a CA original car and I never gave much thought to the idea that they were different than any other Cadillac back then, but I have the spacer and PCV valve under my carb, and the port on the valley pan to connect it to, and I don't have a return line port on the top of my fuel filter.  I'm expecting this might be the end of the differences, but not sure.

Have them hog out the butterfly and put a drop of weld where the flap pivot shaft goes. Now there will be no leaks. Install a factory sized piece and hook up your down pipe. You can do that yourself if you have a small welder. Your labor is as cheap as it gets.

For me it was the $1000 for the Vogues or $2000 for the Michelin Diamond Backs. Vogue tires have been around a looooong time.

The steering wheel argument is as old as the cars are. Which way is correct? I never saw one roll off of the assembly line.

Gorgeous car no matter. Even if it is a '60!  ;) I wonder if it was triple white, if it would have brought the same money?
