A little welding and paint and it will be back to original.

Score.

I have been looking for a replacement passenger front lower window sash since mine is rusted through. I need to drop this off at the chrome shop in the next few weeks with the rest of my window frames.

I found a parts seller in Wisconsin who was stripping a 62 Fleetwood. I managed to get the window frame plus other hard to come by parts I will tuck away as spares.

Complete window. I only need lower sash.

Fleetwood Eldorado only 3 way mirror. The glass is in great condition. I already had mine restored by the mirror lady. But she could not replace the correct glass. This is in good enough condition to polish and use.

Trans linkage shield. I already have one. But this is often missing . I will clean it up and have it available for a friend some day.

Correct fuel pump for a rebuild. Only $35. So a steal for a spare. Knowing the issues people have had i decided to always keep a rebuilt fuel pump in the car when I am finally driving it.

So this one is questionable. A complete set of rubber floor mats in good condition other then very dirty. These are the correct color for my car. The only listings I have found for reproductions are much darker blue. So I will need to see how well these can be cleaned and if I want to use them. I already had aftermarket carpet floor Mats cut to match my car. So now I have options.

I have scrubbed this area with a degreaser six times now. Each time I spray more on more yellow comes out.

I wonder if some type of acidic cleaner would be better.

A little over an hour of soaking in penetrant, a d the window sash screws are out. These look like different screws from the others. But my previous may have just been broken. 20241019_152901.jpg20241019_173225.jpg

Well I am now on two weeks vacation. My window frames will go to the platers when they are done with the first batch.

But the glass channels all need zinc. These are to big for my tanks. Thankfully I have a local place who can do these. I will drop these off and the jack shaft sometime this or next week.

I decided my spare battery hold down I will cut and bend new metal for tge end brackets. That will be the easiest.

Those floor mats are soaking. Pulling a lot of crude out. I will scrub and rinse tomorrow.

How much do you think is dirt and how much is nicotine.

Does your Fleetwood have five ashtrays?   Between the noxious  fumes coming out of the crankcase draft tubes and folks smoking like chimneys, we were toxifying ourselves!

Clewisiii

Well they came out cleanerer. But not as clean as I would hope.

I won't actually be using them for a couple of years. So I will keep experimenting.

A before and after next to my original. Yes these are the same color. I only had the fronts with my car, now a full set. And my original shows a lot more wear.
These are not perfect. But I cannot let the perfect be the enemy of the good. And at $80 for the set that is not bad.

I went to my glass guy this morning and he removed the glass from this replacement frame. There is still a lot of rust in it. But it is better then the two others I have.

I will stop by the zinc plater sometime this week to drop off the window glass tracks.

My rebuilt Battery hold down is a little rough. But for an unobtainable part it is pretty good.

Now that I have that lower window frame, here is my next batch of Chrome. 18 pieces. I assume $5000 for restoration. But if it is less I will carry a few extras with me to fill in the gap. I will drop these off when I get the call to pick up my first batch of 43 parts.

I was thinking about spraying a coat of underbody paint on my car tomorrow, and I remembered that I needed to remove and reinstall an out of position fender bracket first.

This thing caused or exposed some damage in its removal. So I will patch and reinstall this tomorrow.

Well that bracket is welded back in place. Weld through primer is annoying. You dont always get good weld penetration. But i like having some type of coating preventing the rust as before.

20241023_180709.jpg20241023_180704.jpg

One of my fender skirts did not fit well to the body. I cannot remember which side but it may have been the springyness of this bracket causing it.

I got the primer sealer on my firewall and on the areas of metal repair. I can paint the underbody tomorrow. When I can buy paint, I will be ready for bodycolor on the firewall.

After I paint the underbody I will remove the rotisserie. I want to put body color on the firewall without having to work around it.

I wanted to paint the firewall over my vacation. But I cannot swing the $2-3000 for paint right now. So after I paint the underbody, and remove the rotisserie, I will be slowing down on my car. Which is fine. I have about 4 other projects I am working on along side.

Carl,

I had a similar situation with a set of original  green '66 mats before reproductions were available. I scrubbed them with 0000 steel wool using mineral spirts then soap and water wash and applied a light coat of vinyl protectant.......came out quite nice. Try the back side of a mat first.

I have to help my Mom with some end of year work at her house tomorrow.

But I hope tomorrow evening I can get a coat of underbody paint on the car. Once I am happy with that I will remove the body from the rotisserie to paint the firewall. When that is done the body is going back on the frame.

I know that I am fortunate and spoiled. To have enough space to do all of this is a luxury most do not have. And being single, no one is telling me I need to cut back on my hobby spending, or to not store car parts in my spare bedrooms or dining room.

I am blessed and thankful for the luxuries and freedoms I have.

I sent a message to Coker again asking if they will make their bias Firestone in a 2.25 inch white wall.
