So I started rebuilding my instrument panel a while ago.
20241207_145403.jpg

But I noticed I cannot really adjust the lower pieces until I install the upper chrome to hold the top pieces together. 20241207_145232.jpg20241207_145237.jpg

I painted these years ago. Then had to redo some. I used the wrong tip and had horrible orange peal. I decided to take them to an actual paint shop and have them do it. But they had an issue having some color and metal flake match from part to part. So I think I will paint them again myself. 20241207_145227.jpg

Here are some pics that might help with your dash resto paint. Used an LED light to minimize color distortion so color is very close to actual. You might notice a very slight tinge of green thrown by the window tint. I don't see much in the way of a brown tint.  It's very much silver/gray. Hope this helps.

The screw covers on the door pulls are very difficult to manage. They are hard to remove without damage. I need 8 restored. I have 16 to choose from. So I will work with the best. I will needs these perfect to go up against that new chrome.

One unfortunate thing is the steering wheel chrome base, and the medalion insert do not fit.

The material build up around the ring was to thick.

I called the chrome shop to ask what the best way to sand it down to get them to fit together was. He said just bring them back and he will correct it. I am thankful for that. 20241208_111233.jpg

Nice to have a company that will stand by their work and fix stuff.

I had to find the retaining springs to remind and convince myself that it is not a friction fit. 20241209_200323.jpg

I got the steering wheel center back from the chrome shop and reinstalled the center. I am happy with it.

I had one of the speaker emblem surrounds rechromed. I have two Fleetwood scripts. One better then the other. But I can only find one right now. And do not remember if it was the good one. I will need to look around more or clean and consolidate all of my remaining parts.

Sunday cleaning day. And I found the missing Fleetwood script. And tge missing one was the better condition one. So I am happy for that.

I am cleaning and getting my basement ready for some new uphostery work. I have a new commercial leather skiving machine coming so that i can properly thin down some leather for piping and some frech seam parts.  And I have been trying to switch out my French stitch machine from 8mm stitch to a 6mm stitch. But I need to just contact my sewing machine repair guy to help me. I may wait until the skiving machine gets here so that he can test it before I get started.

Well it has not been this low for a while. It can come off the rotisserie soon.

It was a 45 minute drive at 55 miles an hour back roads off of the freeway. I do not think they get many non local customer visits. The door was locked and they only have three parking spaces.  But the people who work there were great.  Very friendly and helpful.

I made and online order based on feedbacks. The result and quality was great

The attention to detail with this 61 is absolutely amazing.  I always enjoy updates!  I wish my cars were this clean!

Ok. I need to take the body off the rotisserie. And I need to be able to roll and position it over the frame.

I bought these pinch weld clamp rollers. But they only have a max height of 12 inches. I need a minimum of 24. I bought these pipes to make extensions. I will need to cut them down some. As is this would be 34 inches. I might bring them down to 28.

I will cut the pipes, drill new pin holes, and may do a set screw or two to stabilize them.

8 pass thru holes for lower pins cut. 24 more pass thru holes to be cut. Cut 6 inches off of each pipe. Then drill and tap 8-12 holes for set screws.

The fronts clamped up nicely. I need to figure out the rear. There is no standing seam at the rear.

I could put the other set at the pinchweld at the back of thd cab. And just leave the rear on the back section of the rotisserie. I think that would actually work well.

 Ha.

Maybe I could have just bought one set.

I think this should work out well. I should be able to roll it over the frame with the rear wheels off.

I do need to clean and spot paint the areas that were attached to the rotisserie.

Arrived today. My new leather skiving machine. My small basement trim shop is growing.

Now I just need to learn how to use it.

I have a sewing machine service guy coming next week to set up my 6mm double needle gauge set. I will see if he can give me a tutorial on how to use this thing.

The cool thing is these tools do not lose value. You can basically sell them for the same price as you bought them minus shipping.
