Well they exist. I just need to find them.Screenshot 2025-02-12 210328.jpg

Found them. Now I just need to verify which side is the retainer and which sidd is the bolts.

I would have thought that the nuts with the attaching metal strip would have been on the other side, so that the angled parts of the strip would actually straddle the crease line of the chassis to Bumper bracket.

If it was meant to go where you have it, then there would be no need for the folds.

I think that to. I was just thinking about theirk assembly line. If they were standing to the side of the car as it rolled by, the bolts would be on outside. But if standing at center of car they would be from inside.

I be happy to look at my car, but if I understand what I'm looking at, it's not visible once assembled.

I took a picture of those brackets on my car before I took them off to paint them.  this is the passenger side.

So my assumption was correct. Even if it is not obvious.

Being that I work alone, I am not looking forward to adjusting this hood. I do not think I can do that alone.

So I cut a square tube to fit inside of the spring.

I clamped the tube inside of my vise and used a prybar to stretch the spring.

Then a round in the bead blaster.

A coat of paint.

I used a 2x4 to flex the hinge to install the spring.

Looks good. I will take these hinges back off. I just did not want to mark the hinge by putting it in a clamp.

I just wanted to see the firewall with stuff on it.

I need to verify which tank goes where. And I may want to powdercoat these. I painted these long ago. And i think some rust pits are starting to come back up.

I still need to finish brakes and shocks before I can put the body on the frame.

Wow- it will be better than new!  You do great work sir.

Love the dark blue paint.  It really shows when the sun hit it in your earlier photos.

Two and a half pouches of gear oil in the rear end. According to the service manual that is the correct amount.

But with having no did stick I am so tempted to pour in the last half pouch.

I actual no longer own a grease gun. So I ordered one to start going through the ball joins and U joints. I will also need to double check all my torques on control arms.

Those are some mighty shiny hinges!

I'm embarrassed to post a pic of my firewall compared to yours, but here my my tanks in their original locations and as far as I know both original.  Which makes me wonder why our horizontal tanks are different, other than mine is a series 62, but I swear it has every vacuum option available that year.

I think the coffee can ones were used on 59. Not sure how far they may have been carry over.

Apparently this coffee can slipped into a 61, must of been digging deep into the parts bin on the assembly line that day.

Well I am busy all weekend. But will be free Friday night. I may just take a duster to my frame during the evening.

Unfortunately I will be busy most weekends now through the beginning of April.

It is Fraternity Initiation season and I will be either attending, taking part in, or grading/certifying nearly half of my fraternities in my state.

Del, did you get one of the Authenticity manuals. Along with the service manual it is a great help in reassembly.
